I can't remember
not drawing

I have always seen beauty in nature, particularly people. I love to capture them in simple, everyday activities.
"I shut my eyes in order to see."
- Paul Gauguin
I can't remember not drawing. As a child, I used to make paper dolls and design their clothing. My dad would back them with cardboard and I would put them into a shoebox and sell them for 20 cents a box. I especially loved to draw people - loved capturing the emotion I could read in their faces and body language.

I went to the Art Students League in NYC in my early 20s and began painting - mostly in oil. I fell in love and that passion has remained to this day. All of my paintings are from my own personal experiences, either from sketches or my own photography.

I put aside my ambitions and raised a daughter on my own. I moved to Sarasota from the East Coast of Florida two years ago to be near my daughter and grandchildren and to live in an area I consider an artist's mecca. It is here that I began my creative journey in earnest.
